Do Nothing – Just Chill!

Jersey City

July 7 12, 2024

Hi there!

The fireworks were on the Hudson River for the first time in 14 years! I had no intention of going to watch them. All those people make me nervous. But at 9:30 I started hearing them and when I looked out of my window, I realized I could actually see them! Not all of them but enough. Happy 4th!

It was so nice to have 4 days off, right? I even took a little break and didn’t show up in your inbox last week. It’s important to take a break every now and then. Summertime with its slower pace lends itself to doing just that. When’s the last time you did nothing, even a little bit of nothing?

When we don’t intentionally take time out, we invite stress into our lives and stress is incredibly unhealthy. It exacerbates menopause symptoms and can cause serious illnesses.

The idea of stress is flippantly bantered about, yet it’s a real physiological condition. The good news is that you can control the amount of stress you allow into your life. And taking an occasional break is a good start.

If your MO is to go, go, go, I suggest you use the slower summer pace to slow down and dial down the stress in your life. You’ve got this!

Let me know what you’re doing this summer to slow down and chill out and reduce stress. Reply and leave a comment. I’ll make a list and share it. One of the things I do is spend time browsing the shelves of an Indie bookstore

What I’ve been up to…

· I took a few days off and visited with friends at a lake house in Mass. It was so quiet.

· Spent a lazy Sundy afternoon reading “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. I recommend it.

· It’s my birthday today. Another trip around the sun and my feeling is let them keep on coming! To celebrate I’m going to see the play “Home” with friends. I believe the older you are, the longer you should celebrate so, this is just the beginning. 😊
